Improving surgical techniques
Have you ever wondered how surgeons get surgical experience before operating on a patient for the first time? They often practice on training models that have all the same anatomical features as humans. Our client, SYNBONE AG is a global market leader in orthopedic surgical training models and training systems for medical professionals. Their brand-new torso model has a typical scoliosis deformity. It has a spine and pelvis and is completely covered with soft tissue and skin. This model was created for training in various minimally invasive procedures via the dorsal approach to the spine. It is used for placing screws, rods and fixators, as well as for imaging purposes.
We had the honor of providing the data for this model using computed tomography. SYNBONE used the data both as the primary data for their finished model and to confirm that the imaging was consistent with an X-ray image of a human torso.
