Learning to perform surgery in the 3D world
How do surgeons actually learn their craft? Compared to the past, when learning to operate involved small steps, assisting, and only later taking on more complex tasks, digital techniques are a major leap forward in medical education. Today, future doctors can practice surgeries virtually, simulating real-life scenarios – thanks to augmented reality. We used computed tomography to create a digital clone of an artificial skull model, achieving the highest level of detail and resolution. Our client, SYNBONE AG, uses this data in AR navigation tools. SYNBONE AG is a global market leader in orthopedic surgical training models and training systems for medical professionals. Thanks to the model and our client’s application of it, aspiring oral and maxillofacial surgeons now have a truly realistic virtual model to practice on.
